You are the angel atop my tree.

I finally got around to taking the tree down today. Since the boys were little, every year I have bought them a Christmas ornament that represented what they were in to that year. I forced them to help me decorate the tree this year so we could go through the ornaments and reminisce about them. Even though they will never admit it to anyone, they secretly loved it. They were talking to one another about each one of them and remembering where we were living when they got them. As I was taking the tree down today I realized that my collection would probably be coming to an end soon, or on pause while we patiently await grandkids. I carefully packed my box of treasures away until next year and couldn't help but feel a little teary eyed over the Angel that has sat upon our tree since 2007. Jacob made this angel for us while we were living in Hawaii, and even though it has seen better days I couldn't think of any other one that would give me as much joy as this one. I still have the card that Jacob gave me with the Angel and it reads.

Dear Family,
I give you the Angel I made in class for all the wonderful things you do and I love you.
Love,
Jacob

Day 2/365

365 Day Challenge

Well 2016 is finally here!  This is the year that I push myself and my photography to the next level.  I will find more me time, I will let the little things go, and I will give my passion for photography a chance to blossom. I will find the beauty in my everyday world, and stop and search for the light.

This year I have committed myself to complete a 365 day photo challenge.  This morning I awoke to beautiful light shining through my kitchen window so I grabbed my camera and shoes then headed outside to capture the light shining through our bird feeder, by the way is empty.

Day 1 of 365

Rewind Time

Where has the time gone?  Yesterday was 10/21/1997 right? How is it possible that my Jakie Baby is almost 18 and starting his Senior year.  SO.. with that being said, please forgive me for all the Senior shots you will be forced to see while I try to capture his last year before college.

A man stands now where my baby used to be,

and the sight of him all grown up moves me.

My son has become a wiser and stronger man
than I ever dreamed he could be.
I know by looking at him that God has blessed me
in ways that years ago I never would have believed.
He is an adult to the world and that is how it should be,
but in my heart and soul he will always be
my little boy.
